owen signing for man utd is such a weird thing. not weird- bad, just weird. my impression of owen has for the most part stopped at him being a liverpool player, even after he signed for newcastle and subsequently real madrid. now seeing him in a utd jersey is just odd. nothing against him, really. he's a great striker when he isnt bogged down by injuries and hey he scored for utd against kl, but yeah, seeing in owen in a utd shirt sure needs some getting used to, lol.

i facking hate the whole damn world right now. ok fine, maybe not the whole damn world, that sounds way to emo and im really well over that teenage angst phase. maybe just the bloody lab and fyp world. and stupid boss who keeps asking for results but doesnt realise that results require time to achieve and its really not that much up to me to produce results as it is for the damn bloody mutant protein to behave and express properly. stupid boss and his stupid papers. hate to use such coarse and vulgar language when im actually a demure young lady of substance(...right, who am i kidding?), but the situation calls for it seeing as i have only 11 days left to the deadline of fyp report submission. oh fack. oh god, i just had to remind myself of the little time i have left. i am one bloody idiot. or rather boss is one bloody idiot. i hate his bloody guts at the moment even though i know he isnt such a bad person and i actually admire his sarcasm. but not right now. right now, he is my number one mortal enemy. bloody git.
oh right, harry potter and the half- blood prince was enjoyable. to quote my sister, the overall flow of the movie was pretty good, considering that they didnt split the movie into two and adapted such a thick book into one movie only. and right, all that comparison between twilight and harry potter, and daniel radcliffe and robert pattinson is just bullshit, really. there really isnt much to compare. storywise, harry potter has a better plot, and the author is also a better story teller than twilight's. between daniel radcliffe and robert pattinson, erm, even though daniel isnt as cute as he used to be in the first few movies, personally i dont see that much appeal to robert pattinson either. at least daniel can act better right? and again, this is just my personal opinion, but i dont see what his fangirls see in him. robert pattinson's face is just plain weird. sort of ugly actually. shit, probably gonna get murdered by his fangirls or something. and then again, who cares about them anyway.

NTU receives S$30 million Competitive Research Programme grants
07-Jul-2009
Three proposals from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have won up to S$30 million in research fund from the National Research Foundation (NRF) following its fourth call for proposals under its Competitive Research Programme (CRP) Funding Scheme. Since the inaugural CRP grant call was launched on 16 April 2007, NTU has received some S$90 million grants from NRF. This underscores the significant role that the university plays in fuelling Singapore’s drive for research and innovation.
One of the winning proposals is led by Associate Professor Jaume Torres, which aims to develop “tools for rational discovery of novel therapeutics and diagnostics targeting integral membrane proteins”.
Commenting on receiving the funding, Assoc Professor Torres says, “With this funding, we will develop our proposal on membrane proteins, which is one of the most exciting areas of research in biological systems. We do foresee that this will be one of the hottest topics in biomedicine and biotechnology for the next 10 years. We envisage this project will help to position Singapore at the forefront of membrane protein research.”
The other winning project “Interface Science and Technology (IS-Tech)” is led by Associate Professor Christos Panagopoulos.
Commenting on the proposal, Associate Professor Panagopoulos says, “We propose to engineer and investigate novel materials with functionalities beyond the current state of technology. This approach opens up new perspectives for the emergence and exploration of interface properties that are driven by electron interactions in reduced dimensions – a true example of innovative technology, with inventions and applications originating from seminal scientific advances.”
The proposal “Nanonets: New Materials, Devices for Integrated Energy Harnessing & Storage” by Professor Subodh Mhaisalkar and his team focuses on novel nanomaterials that will bring new functionalities to applications in green energy systems such as solar cells for energy generation and batteries for electrical energy storage.
“It is indeed an honour to receive the grant from the National Research Foundation. It is an acknowledgement that the project proposed by our team is of the highest scientific standard and is well aligned with the national research agenda. We look forward to develop the project to address global climate change concerns and the critical need for alternative energy solutions,” says Professor Mhaisalkar.
The CRP Funding Scheme offers substantial funding support of up to S$10 million per proposal, over three to five years. The grant funds a broad base of research programmes through a competitive bottom-up (investigator-led) approach, with submissions assessed by international scientific reviews.

yea, so not looking forward to going back to school for fyp tomorrow. am utterly clueless as to what im supposed to do and what is expected of me. ok, maybe not utterly but still, bad enough. been following two people and doing bits and pieces of.. er, scientific stuff too bothersome to describe here. wasnt until last friday that i realized why nothing made much sense. cos the things i had been doing were sort of like the start and end of a, erm, process. finally saw the link after 5 days in the lab. so does not bode well for me. am doomed to bad fyp grade.
on another matter, wonder if i really should spend two years, nott to mention the money on something that i may not actually put to use in the future. honestly speaking, i have no freaking idea what i want to do in the future. what i would love to do is probably something that will never happen, or at least not very realistic to achieve anyway. really dont want to be stuck in a damn lab for the rest of my life. especially after having had a taste of it already, can most definitely say that lab sucks. is dry and boring, and have been eating suppers instead of dinners for the past few days, not counting the weekend of course.
blah, am bound to be a useless leech on society. am envious of people who know what they want to do too. is so lucky. bleah.

yeah yeah supposed to be studying for 各家学说. whatever. so sian. ok not whatever. i will get to continuing... eventually. so not feeling motivated at all to study. exams this time around has been weird. no sense of urgency at all until pretty much when its in my face. even then, still not much motivation. must be because we have exams (and i dont mean like tests, they are real exams) every half a semester, its difficult not to get sick and bored of cramming for exams. blah blah. damn sian.
anyway, currently very hooked on this song. its called フレンズ― and its the second ending theme for gundam 00, not like anyone i know would know since no one seems to watch anime but me... anyhow, its by a relatively new singer from japan who can sing insanely high. and who happens to be smart and pretty too. i quote, my best friend wiki, "Stephanie (ステファニー ,Sutefanī?, born August 5, 1987) is a Japanese singer and actress. Currently residing in Tokyo, she is signed onto Sony Music Japan and is a student at Aoyama Gakuin University's school of law.
Born to a Japanese mother from Yamaguchi Prefecture and an Armenian-American father, she is a Japanese citizen. She is able to sing five octaves and use the whistle register."
