awww.....its so sad to watch li jiawei cry on tv after losing the bronze medal match to guo yue. can tell that she really wanted to win and to be unable to do so was like a repeat of the athens 2004 olympics. so sad lor. i wanted singapore to win another medal. that would have been so cool. and it would probably be vindication for her. especially at the grand old age of 27, she most probably wouldnt particpate in london 2012. so today was the last chance, and nope, no individual medal for li jiawei. its disappointing not only for her but for singapore as well. but singapore had a great olympic campaign anyway. our first medal in 48 years!!! courtesy of the women's table tennis team! and tao li who ca now proudly proclaim that she is 5th in the world! yeahness!! i do so love my country hahahaha. this is probably really old news by now, but woah. tao li actually got into the 100m butterfly finals and placed 5th. that makes her 5th in the world! that is just amazing and totally worth celebrating. especially when she was this unknown rookie from a tiny country that isnt exactly a swimming nation at the olympic level, her feat has made people all over the world sit up and take notice of singapore, and man, we should be proud of her achievement.
plus, this really gives singapore hope for london 2012. medal hopes may not be sucha distant dream after all!
